GTFD1 EV Nozzle Training - Over the last several months the fire district has been exploring various ways to combat the latest wrinkle to the fire service. in 2023 the district purchased an electric vehicle (EV) blanket. late December 2024 the nozzle was acquired to cool the under carriage of the EV. The batteries can reach 4,900 degrees. and can take up to 2,500 to over 50,000 gallons of water. Last month the department trained indoors to learn the connections, pressures and gpm required to operate the " turtle nozzle". On Tuesday evening an instructor came from Turtle Fire Systems for the hands-on evolutions. Fire District 1 would like to thank Bernies towing for use of a vehicle to add a real life feel to the event. An invitation was extended to all Township Fire Districts in an effort to cross trains in the event to nozzle is needed anywhere. The nozzle has more than one singular use, crews where versed in the uses but not limited to basements, storage facilities, alleyways, tractor and trailers, cooling propane tanks etc... We also would like to extend a thank you to the following departments that participated.
